American Goldsmith Logan James expresses passion and emotion through metal. He has been making jewelry since he was twelve years old, honing his craft under master metalsmiths, and excelling in the fine processes of goldsmithing and the robust techniques of blacksmithing. He fuses 18k and 22k gold to iron, exposing the natural dichotomies between the two materials. In doing so, he evokes the ineffable qualities within the metals. His work is an ode to the past, an endeavor to take the almost forgotten traditions of makers that came before and ushering them into our fractured world. He brings Classical metalsmithing techniques to the present, arming the wearer for the modern age. He and his team work out of his studio in the Pacific Northwest.

I see my work as an examination of the human condition. I seek to strip away the superfluous, worship the intangible, and to capture the tormentous emotions that are often left unsaid; an effort that seeks to cut the gordian knot between the material and the immaterial, the finite and the infinite. My hope is that when wearing my work, the adorned will find solace in the archaic power within themselves.
