Fortissimo - Vessel
“Fortissimo,” is crafted from 22k gold and steel. The design is inspired by a gold pan, a necessary item when searching for your future. I used a combination of blacksmithing, silversmithing, and fine goldsmithing techniques to create this vessel. The spiral is achieved by fusing the gold to the steel and striking it against a stone while molten. The back was textured using a silversmithing technique, while the base is a type of anticlastic raising commonly used by the pre-Christian Celts. The name “Fortissmo” is derived from the musical notation of the same name that indicates one must play loudly.

Shattered Earrings
Steel, 18k and 22k gold; Inspired by a third century Greek shield I saw at the Met years ago. I was struck by how beautiful it is in its state of erosion, and how truly powerless man is when facing time. In these earrings, I attempt to capture this enduring struggle.
